The Irish Cultural society was started on March 18th, 1998, by two Freshmen at Villanova University.  Brendan Casey and Jonathan 'Walsh' Casano were disappointed that an Irish university did nothing to acknowledge its own heritage, and the heritage of over 70% of the students on St. Patrick's Day.

The next year, the ICS was sponsored.
